Dr. Judy Lewis of Marietta, OH emphatically believes that "learning shouldn't hurt."  She was the former owner of the Sylvan Learning Center of Vienna, WV.  Dr. Lewis sold the center to a friend and me in 1998.  I began my journey with Sylvan as a part-time teacher in 1989 and totally fell in love with the Sylvan concept.  For more information, click  http://educate.com.

I am going to homeschool my twins this year.  Although reluctant at first, new laptops won them over!  By the way, Circuit City was selling them for around $500 recently!

*The girls LOVE their new laptops - for playing games.  We had to set some boundaries.  If you are having the same problem, send your kids to the "Cool Sites" section of For Homeschooled Students.

DID YOU KNOW?
  • "a lot" is not spelled as one word?

  • You shouldn't use "there's" if you are following it with a plural noun?  (There's a lot of cookies - wrong!  There ARE  a lot of cookies.)

  • Helping words (have, has, had) must be followed by the correct verb tense?  (He has went to college - wrong!  He has GONE to college.)
